What’s covered and what’s not

The age of your rabbit

Your insurance policy can start from when your little bunny is just 8 weeks old, right up until their 5th birthday. However, once your rabbit is insured this can continue for the rest of their life. In order to keep your rabbit hopping and happy, you must take proper and reasonable care of it by keeping on top of recommended check-ups and following all advice given by your vet.

Pre-existing conditions

If your rabbit has a medical history, it is important you give us detail of this. This means you should inform us of any condition or symptom that you are aware of or that has been investigated by a vet before the start date of your policy. Please note that we won’t cover any pre-existing conditions, and that terms, conditions, excesses, exclusions and limitations apply.

Illness you could prevent

The cost of treating an injury or illness that is preventable by vaccination and you failed to vaccinate will not be covered. It’s important to keep on top of recommended vaccines, a healthy rabbit is a happy rabbit.

Dental care

The cost of dental care will be covered by your insurance policy for a dental condition provided there’s a history of check-ups advised by your vet, any advice given has been followed, and if the treatment is to relieve suffering due to illness. Dental treatment will also be covered if it is a result of accidental injury. Keep their teeth in tip top condition so they can continue chomping on their favourite treats. Please note, trimming burring and rasping of rabbit teeth is not covered by your insurance policy.

Euthanasia

Should your furry friend sadly have to be put to sleep, the cost of this will be covered by your insurance policy as long as this is recommended by or agreed with your vet.

Where you are covered

Our rabbit insurance policy only applies in the United Kingdom, The Channel Islands, or The Isle of Man.

Fly strike

Fees for treatment for the first instance of fly strike will be covered, but not for a 2nd or subsequent instance.

Please note this is not the full list of exclusions. For more detail and the full list, download our policy document.
