How do Argos multi-pet insurance policies work?

Insuring multiple pets with Argos may be a little different to the multi-pet cover you’re used to, instead of grouping your pets on one policy, they each have their own. The principles of cover are essentially the same as regular pet insurance; you’re just insuring more than one pet. So, if one of your pets suffers an illness or injury, you have the peace of mind their vet bills will be looked after up to the limits of your policy.

You can find that some providers limit the number of pets you can have on a policy. As each pet has their own, we don’t place a limit of the number of pets you can insure – 2 or 20 pets, you get the quotes and take out policies for all of them, we’re not going to stop you. And there’s a discount coming too.

Yes, a discount. Multiple pet insurance from Argos gets you a discount on every single pet policy. Our multi-pet discount is £1 per pet per month, insure 2 pets and that’s a discount of up to £24 . The more pets you add, the more discount you get – 3 pets up to £36, 4 pets up to £48, well, you get the idea.

What’s included in our multi-pet policies

We have all the same cover options when you are insuring more than one pet; Lifetime, Maximum Benefit and Time Limited. You could cover your dog for Maximum Benefit and your cat for Time Limited and your rabbit for Lifetime. Whatever way you choose, we give you freedom to pick the right cover for each pet. Please note, for Rabbits only our Lifetime cover is available.

If your pet suffers from an accident or injury, insurance is there to help with costs of veterinary treatment, medication, or surgery your pet may need. As your pets have their own policy, this will hopefully make it easier for you to keep track of your pet claims.

Other Excesses

When your dog reaches 8 years old (for restricted breeds of dog this is 5 years) your excess will change from £99 to the greater of £99 or 20%
contribution toward each vet claim made. Please find further information on restricted breeds here.

When your cat reaches 10 years old your excess will change from £99 to the greater of £99 or 20% contribution toward each vet claim made.

When your rabbit reaches 5 years old, your excess will change from £50 to the greater of £50 or 15% contribution towards each pet claim.

Please note that we won’t cover any pre-existing conditions and that terms, conditions, excesses, exclusions and limitations apply. Also, you should note that there is a £100 excess for Third Party Liability (only applies to dogs). Please note these values are subject to change. Rabbit policy

Remember, we have an upper age limit for insurance policies. You can insure your pets from 8 weeks old but for cats you cannot take out a new policy after their 10th birthday, for dogs their 8th birthday (5 years for some breeds, please see FAQs) and rabbits their 5th birthday. However, once purchased, cover can continue up to any age if you renew the existing policy, without a break in cover.

Frequently asked questions

How many pets can I insure?

With our multi-pet insurance policies, you can insure as many dogs, cats and rabbits as you like. Some insurance providers place limits on the number of pets on multiple pet insurance policies, but as your pets have their own policy, we don’t put any restrictions on the number of pets you can insure.

Can my pets have different types of insurance?

Yes, our multiple pet insurance policies allow you to choose different cover types and cover levels for each of your pets. We understand that the individual needs of your pets could be different, that’s why we give you the freedom to choose the cover that’s right for each pet.

Being able to choose different types and levels gives you the freedom to be able to select the right cover for all your pets. So, if you have a dog that needs Max Benefit, a cat that’s all about Time Limited, or a couple of rabbits that need Lifetime cover, we have them all covered.

Please note, only Lifetime insurance is available for rabbits.

Do I get a discount if I insure more than one pet?

Once you’ve decided on the cover for your cats, dogs and rabbits, the good news is, with every extra pet you add you get our multi-pet discount. Our discount works out as £1 per month per pet; this means that the minimum discount you’ll get when you take out pet insurance for multiple pets will be up to £24 each year – add more pets and you get more discount.
